Dog Mentoring

Clemmie, our qualified Dog Mentor, has been an important partof life at Bramley Grange Academy since she was just 10 weeks old. Having completed her Dog Mentor qualification in January 2024, Clemmie has developed into a much-loved member of our school community and provides a unique source of support for pupils.

Through individual Dog Mentor sessions, Clemmie helps pupils to develop confidence, empathy and emotional regulation, while providing a calm and supportive opportunity to step away from the busy school environment. Pupils may spend time walking with Clemmie, reading to her, practising tricks, completing puzzles and games, or simply sitting with her and talking.

Clemmie has supported pupils with a wide range of needs, helping them to recognise and express their feelings, develop positive relationships, build confidence and practise strategies for managing emotions and behaviour. Her sessions can also support learning through activities involving reading, communication, numbers, problem-solving and turn-taking.

Whether she is joining a pupil for a walk, patiently listening to a story, helping someone work through their feelings, out on school trips or simply offering a reassuring presence, Clemmie has a wonderful way of helping pupils feel comfortable, connected and understood.

She is much more than a school dog—Clemmie is a valued member of the Bramley Grange team, helping our pupils to thrive, one wagging tail at a time. 🐶❤️
